After that, they entered the Azteca, and even though they had to battle with 10 men, they came out alive, winning 3-2. Finally they faced Norway and once again were down 1-0, but they tied things up before halftime and ended up winning 2-1 to move on. Now the Brits go head to head with the defending World Cup Champions.
Lionel Messi and company have literally been skating by. After dominating their group, they have been playing with their food. They gave up a one goal lead twice to Cape Verde, eventually winning 3-2 in extra time. Then they fell down 2-0 to Egypt (should've been 3-0), but produced an incredible comeback, scoring three straight to win 3-2 in regulation. Finally, they went up 1-0 early on against the Swiss, but gave up an equalizer. It took a man advantage and extra time for them to win 3-1 in Kansas City.

It might be coming home. England has done enough for me to trust them in this spot, even facing Argentina. The South American side has been barely winning against much lower caliber teams, and facing England might be a wake up call. Jude Bellingham has been absurdly good for this team. He has six goals in this tournament, scoring two each in his last two matches. He's turned his game up to the next level, and even if you slow him down, you have to worry about Harry Kane.
While it was promising to see some other Argentinian players step up against Switzerland, they still look flat. And I can't ignore the fact that they aren't putting lesser teams away. Could they just be that good? Absolutely. But their luck will run out eventually, and all this squeaking by is bound to catch up to them at some point.
After losing in the 2024 EUROs, the Brits are hungry to bring another major trophy back to the island. Give me England to come out aggressive, put Argentina on their heels, and have a shot at the Cup, 60 years after winning their only tournament.
