We are in for a treat in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday as all 36 teams are in action at the same exact time. To close out the League Phase portion of this competition, we have all 18 UCL matches kicking off at 3:00 p.m. eastern leading to complete chaos on pitches all over the world. While some matchups aren't as enticing, this one in Paris is huge. Newcastle United look to defend their top eight position while Paris Saint-Germain looks to do the same. Will we see three points on one side in this match? Or will they split and walk away with a point each? Let's dive into our favorite UCL picks and get to the bottom of this contest.

If things ended right now, both of these teams would advance straight to the Round of 16 bracket. Paris Saint-Germain is No. 6 on the table and Newcastle United is right behind them. However, there are a total of eight teams tied at 13 points a piece, with goal differential being the tie breaking metric. Obviously, plenty could happen on Wednesday to jumble everyone's position on the table, but if either of these teams win, getting to 16 total points, that will likely be enough to secure a top eight position.
However, walking away with zero and ending at 13, or even a draw to end with 14 total points may force them to play in a two leg knockout round if they slip to No. 9 or lower on the final standings. Point being, both should bring all the motivation they can muster in order to set themselves up for success. All they can do is control their game on the field.

Clearly Paris Saint-Germain is a heavy favorite in this contest, and for good reason. They are more talented than Newcastle, plain and simple. However, will the strength (or lack thereof) of their domestic league come into play? It's no secret that the EPL is much tougher than Ligue 1, and the Magpies are doing a good job of climbing up that table as well.

Newcastle has struggled against top teams recently, as they were shutout by both Aston Villa and Manchester City when they came to town, plus they failed to score on the Wolves when playing in Wolverhampton. Do we trust their offense to compete with PSG on the road? The answer in my eyes, maybe.
Personally, I think PSG could cover this by themselves. You could take PSG Team Total Over 2.5 for +131 on Lucky Rebel, but I'll take this cushion in case we get a 2-1 French win, which is how I see this playing out. In seven UCL matches so far, PSG are tied with Arsenal and Bayern Munich for first place in goals scored, netting 20 already. However, they have allowed 10 goals, which is the highest amongst teams currently in the top eight.
On the other side, Newcastle have scored 16 in their seven matches, ranking No. 7 on the table (where they rank overall), but are second in goals allowed. The Magpies are one of two teams who are allowing less than a goal per match. Unfortunately for them, I see them letting at least a couple in the back of the net on the road, and I trust the hosts to be able to earn three points.
