First-day fireworks are a common sight at Grand Slam tennis tournaments, and the opening day of Wimbledon action certainly delivered in that department. That only serves to ramp up the excitement for a day two that features the return of one of the game's all-time greats.

On day one, four seeds apiece fell in men's and women's singles. In men's singles, No. 11 Casper Ruud (lost to Hubert Hurkacz in straight sets), No. 12 Andrey Rublev (lost to Roman Safiullin in five sets), No. 14 Luciano Darderi (lost to American Ethan Quinn in straight sets), and No. 26 Cameron Norrie (lost to American Michael Zheng in five sets) all fell.

In women's singles, No. 20 Maja Chwalinska (lost to Mananchaya Sawangkaew in three sets) followed her French Open final run with a swift Wimbledon exit, while No. 22 Leylah Fernandez (lost to Janice Tjen in straight sets), No. 27 Anastasia Potapova (lost to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in straight sets), and No. 28 Ann Li (lost to Zeynep Sonmez in straight sets) all fell.

However, the most notable result of the day was an upset that nearly was but ultimately wasn't. World number one Jannik Sinner went the distance against Miomir Kecmanovic in a 4-6, 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 6-2, 6-3 win.

After going down in the second round at the French Open, Sinner's second round showdown with Nuno Borges will receive a lot of attention on Wednesday.

But what lies ahead for Tuesday's slate at the All England Club? Here's a rundown of the men's and women's singles matches on the Wimbledon day two schedule, which is highlighted by the comeback match for seven-time Wimbledon and 23-time Grand Slam singles champion Serena Williams, who will face off with Maya Joint.

Looking over the schedule, there are some rather tantalizing options to consider. But what are the best bets on the board? Here are a few selections that stick out for yours truly.

Wimbledon Day Two Predictions and Best Bets

Jacob Fearnley (+115 at Lucky Rebel) to win vs. Alex Michelsen

After a disastrous opening day for British players—which included the withdrawals of both Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu due to injury—Fearnley, a wild card ranked No. 159, will hope to give the home crowd something to cheer about on day two.

His prep for the tournament consisted of challengers at Ilkley (where he lost in the final) and Nottingham (where he lost in the round of 16), but that gives him an edge over the 46th-ranked Michelsen, who didn't play any Wimbledon tune-up tournaments after losing to Rafael Jodar in the third round of the French Open.

Going in cold is a tough ask, especially against a player who will have the edge in crowd support. Michelsen may be more than 100 spots higher in the rankings, but I don't think that will count for much here.

Ugo Humbert/Zizou Bergs Under 40 Games (-117 at Lucky Rebel)

These two players will be feeling a bit of déjà vu, as they just met in the final at Eastbourne. In that match, Humbert went in as a firm favorite and won the first set, but Bergs rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win and his first career ATP Tour title.

That match started on Saturday but was suspended after just three games due to weather and completed on Sunday.

That means that these two will enter their Wimbledon showdown with less than 48 hours of rest. That isn't an uncommon thing for tennis players but is not ideal in this situation.

What does that mean for how this match might play out? While the Eastbourne final went the distance, I expect to see a shorter match. Humbert, who made the Queen's Club semis before his Eastbourne run, will be playing his 10th match across the last two weeks. Bergs will be playing his sixth match in a shade over a week. There's a good chance fatigue could come into play, and if it does, this one will end before 40 games.
