Kennesaw State Owls vs. Missouri State Bears NCAA Football Expert Picks

Can Collins leads the Owls to a victory on the road with his legs tonight?

Best Bets: Rickie Collins Over 49.5 Rushing Yards (-114) BetOnline

We are backing the Owls' quarterback to rush for 50 yards tonight. Yes, sacks will count against him, but I am not too worried about that happening. So far this year, Collins has only been sacked four total times in five games, two of which came against Tennessee. He's cleared this line in three of five games so far this year, doing so on as little as nine carries. Even in the two games where he didn't eclipse this mark, Collins had 46 on 10 carries against Georgia State, and 36 yards on 14 carries against the Volunteers.

He is averaging 11 carries and just under 50 yards per game this year. All we need is for him to put up a standard performance on the road tonight. Collins leads the Owls in both rushing yards and carries this season, so the opportunities will certainly be there. Plus, he faces a very bad Bears rushing defense.

How Bad is the Bears Defense?

Missouri State ranks No. 115 in the nation in yards per rush allowed, giving up five per carry which is bottom 25 in the nation. They are also bottom 10 in both rushing yards and rush attempts allowed per contest. Marcel Reed of Texas A&M had seven carries for 20 yards against the Bears, Lindenwood's QB had 63 yards on 14 carries. Carlos Del Rio-Wilson of Marshall had 16 for 73 yards and a touchdown, and Brock Glenn of WKU had 95 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown, including a 24 yard rush. The Bears are bottom five in sack percentage this year, and they clearly struggle to contain mobile QBs.

Collins has had a 10 yard rush in every single game, including an 18 yard scamper against the Volunteers. This should be sweat free this evening.

Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs. Sam Houston Bearkats NCAA Football Expert Picks

Rodney Tisdale should be back on the field tonight for the Hilltoppers

Heavy Lean: Western Kentucky ML (-120) BetOnline

I am not going to bet it, but I certainly lean with the Hilltoppers tonight, even on the road. Both teams severely struggle to stop the run, but also don't do too well offensively on the ground either. The Hilltoppers are certainly the better team to break that trend, plus they are better equipped to air it out and succeed in the passing game as well.

Sam Houston hasn't looked that competitive all year. Their one win came over Nicholls State in a 59-0 blowout. Other than that, they have back to back losses to Liberty, where they managed a single field goal, and a 49-14 beating from Texas Tech. Despite those two losses, Sam Houston also came up short against Tulsa and Troy, two teams more their caliber.

But the Hilltoppers are still the more battle tested team. They took on Georgia and Indiana, two current top five teams in the country. Were they blown out? Sure, but facing Sam Houston on the road is going to feel like a breeze compared to those other two opponents. Look for Western Kentucky to get their first road win of the season tonight.
