The Red River Shootout happens this weekend in Dallas, as the Oklahoma Sooners head south to take on the No. 1 overall Texas Longhorns. Boomer has now lost two straight in this rivalry, and by the looks of it, the Longhorns might complete the turkey this weekend. However, it is still college football and anything can happen. So let's tap in to our NCAA Football experts and check out their picks and analysis for this showdown.

Arch Manning and the Longhorns are looking for a third straight win against the Sooners

My good friend PJ Glasser has an interesting take on this game that he gave out on this week's episode of Study Hall. Go check out the replay, but the theme was, when we get this rivalry and one team is looking much better than the other so far in the season, the underdog typically plays well. And I'd have to agree. While this is a big game for the Longhorns, it means much more to the Sooners who might already be out of the College Football Playoff. At least they have a shot at beating their rival.

Last year the Longhorns were unranked, 3-2, while the Sooners were 5-0 and a top six team in the country. Texas won 23-6. In 2022, the unranked Sooners knocked off the No. 22 Longhorns, winning 53-45 after four overtimes. It's much easier for the underdog to wake up in this spot, especially coming off a bye, and I lean that way this weekend.

Texas vs. Oklahoma Prediction: Oklahoma Wins Outright, Under 39

Best Bets: Oklahoma +7.5 (-113) BetOnline

Let's start with transparency, I have snagged Oklahoma +8 (-112). It looks like that number is gone, but a touchdown and the hook is just fine. Look at what we have. It's a rivalry game, which always brings out the best in both teams, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The total is below 40 points, yet the spread is a full score. Clearly the books are expecting a lot of stops in this one.

With this low of a total, and that high of a spread, the underdog is the easy spot for me. We know how good Oklahoma's defense is, and let's face it, if they don't win out, their season is over. Kiss a second straight trip to the CFP goodbye. They need this one bad, and we know they are going to wake up for it.

Not only have the Sooners lost the last two meetings, they haven't been close, losing by 31 in 2024 and 17 last year, putting up just nine points overall. Oklahoma fans haven't seen a touchdown in the Red River Rivalry since 2023. Lucky for them, the defense can carry them to a cover in a game I expect to be very low scoring. If you can read, you see I do have the Sooners outright predicted, so don't be afraid to sprinkle on the moneyline if you feel so inclined. Texas is staring down the barrel of five straight ranked games without a bye following this one. They have much bigger fish to fry, and I think they get caught slipping here.
