What a crazy day of Champions League football we had yesterday!

We finished 1-1 on our plays, although it easily could have been a perfect 2-0 day. Lens produced 1.8 expected goals at home but somehow failed to find the back of the net.

Meanwhile, we saw some absolutely wild results across Europe.

Bayern Munich played out a 3-3 draw on the road against Norwegian side Viking. Then, Inter Milan somehow conceded four goals at home to Club Brugge.

Those were just a few results that caught me by surprise.

However, that's the beauty of Champions League football. You never quite know what you're going to get.

Today, I'm narrowing things down and focusing on one of the biggest matches of the entire slate.

We're heading to England for Manchester City against PSG.

Let's get into the plays!

Manchester City vs. PSG

Soccer Betting Guide cover (PSG star Ousmane Dembele)

Dembele should see his first action today for PSG since the International break.

This might be the biggest match on today's Champions League slate.

We have the back-to-back Champions League winners, PSG, traveling to England to face Manchester City.

The hosts enter this matchup following an emotional 3-0 road victory over Liverpool.

However, I don't think that final score tells the entire story.

The atmosphere at Anfield was intense, and you could see City struggling to settle into the match.

They weren't creating much going forward, while even the simplest passes seemed difficult to complete.

It wasn't until Liverpool went down to 10 men and Jeremy Doku entered the match that things changed.

From there, City took complete control.

They scored almost immediately after those changes and eventually added two more goals to secure an impressive road victory.

Still, I have some concerns about what we saw before that red card.

Liverpool were already missing Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo, and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Despite those absences, City struggled to establish any rhythm or create consistent opportunities against 11 men.

That's concerning when you consider who they're facing today.

PSG arrive in Manchester well-rested after rotating their squad, and this is a completely different attacking challenge.

I know PSG haven't enjoyed much success at the Etihad historically.

However, with the way goals have been flying in during this Champions League campaign, I think that could change today.

More importantly, Manchester City's defensive performances haven't exactly inspired confidence.

We've already seen them concede goals at home against much weaker opposition, including Coventry and Sunderland.

In fact, Sunderland created more than 3.5 expected goals against City.

That's an alarming number when you consider the attacking quality PSG will bring into this matchup.

Now, City are coming off an emotional trip to Liverpool while dealing with plenty of outside noise surrounding the club.

Meanwhile, PSG arrive with fresh legs and an attack capable of punishing defensive mistakes.

I think that creates an excellent opportunity for the visitors.

City have struggled to contain opponents in transition, and PSG have the pace and quality to exploit those openings.

Additionally, I expect the French side to create chances even if City control possession for stretches.

I'm not necessarily saying PSG win this match.

However, I do think they have more than enough attacking talent to score twice.

With City's defensive issues and the circumstances surrounding this matchup, I really like the visitors to produce offensively.

At nearly even money, I'll gladly back PSG to find at least two goals.

Why I Like Erling Haaland to Score

Even though I'm backing PSG to score, I still expect Manchester City to have success offensively.

They're at home, and I imagine the supporters will give their team a strong reception despite everything happening around the club.

Of course, there will likely be some fans frustrated by the ongoing charges and uncertainty surrounding City.

However, the players still have a Champions League match to prepare for, and it's a massive one.

That's where Erling Haaland comes into the picture.

City will need their biggest stars to step up while the outside noise continues. More importantly, Haaland has already shown he can cause problems for this PSG defense.

In his only previous meeting against the French club last season, Haaland found the back of the net in Paris.

PSG eventually won that match 4-2, but Haaland still managed to create problems inside the penalty area.

Now, he gets another opportunity against the same opponent.

One thing that stands out to me is the physical matchup.

Haaland should have a height advantage over both PSG center backs. Additionally, his movement inside the box makes him extremely difficult to contain when City deliver quality service.

That's something I'll be watching closely today.

I expect PSG to create chances, but that could also force City to become more aggressive going forward.

If the visitors score early, City won't have the luxury of sitting back and controlling the tempo.

Instead, they'll need to push numbers forward and create opportunities for Haaland.

That's exactly the type of game script I want.

There's also something to be said about backing elite players in massive matches.

Haaland has consistently shown that he can deliver when his team needs him most.

With everything surrounding Manchester City right now, I expect their biggest stars to take responsibility on the pitch.

And nobody is more important to this attack than Haaland.

Ultimately, I think we're going to see goals on both ends today.

PSG have the quality to expose City's defensive weaknesses. However, City have the attacking firepower to make this a difficult afternoon for the visitors as well.

At -110, I'm willing to back Haaland to find the net in front of his home supporters.

Give me the Norwegian to step up in another massive Champions League match.

Play: Erling Haaland Anytime Goalscorer (-110)
