Friday Night brings us three college football games on our screen this evening. This brings us to Day Two of 61 straight days of football to wager on. Whether it's the NCAA or NFL, someone is playing football every single day for the months of October and November. Yesterday, we started off with a winner, as the North Texas Mean Green came through for us, but it's time to find a winner for today. Let's get right into our expert NCAA Football picks for Friday to keep the streak going!
Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Virginia Tech Hokies NCAA Football Picks
Mason Heintschel leads the Panthers on the road against Virginia Tech tonight
I have not quite brought this one to the counter yet, and I'm not convinced I will, but I heavily lean with the Panthers catching a field goal on the road. We have two 4-0 ACC teams who are unranked, which is almost unheard of. I've got to imagine the winner of this game will break into the Top 25 next week, meaning this is a huge contest for both teams.
But we know about Virginia Tech's head coach. "Big Game James" Franklin doesn't do so well in these marquee contests. Will he lead his team to a win tonight? Possibly, but catching points with the visitors would be the way I bet this game. I also lean with the over, as I think both offenses could be good for plenty of scoring. Despite neither playing any top tier opponents, I think Pittsburgh is the slightly more battled tested team, playing Syracuse and UCF, who are both tougher than Maryland and Boston College (in one man's opinion).
Like I said, probably nothing for me in this one as we gear up for Saturday, but if you forced my hand, it would be on Pittsburgh.
Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Northwestern Wildcats NCAA Football Picks
Former Michigan State QB, Aidan Chiles is tearing it up for Northwestern this year
This total is ticking down, but I trust we get a low scoring, sloppy slugfest in Chicago tonight. The Wildcats are opening up their new field tonight, therefore I would expect a little extra motivation from this team as they host Matt Campbell and Penn State. Sure, the Nittany Lions are coming off an embarrassing loss at home as 10 point favorites to Wisconsin, but they also have to host No. 18 USC next Saturday and go to Ann Arbor the week after that. While they can't afford to look ahead, I think they won't be able to avoid it.
Northwestern just went toe to toe with the defending National Champions in Bloomington. They face Ball State next week, so their entire focus should be on pulling off this upset. While I'm not sure they are good for an outright win, I think they can keep their visitors off the scoreboard enough to make it a close contest.
When Penn State was finally tested, they caved, going for just 233 total yards. I do expect some improvement, but going on the road and winning in the Big Ten is tough. With this total ticking down, I'll snag it and get on the under.
