Brazil and Morocco begin their World Cup tournament by going head to head at MetLife Stadium, where both hope to be playing in about a month in the Final Match. However this is still a massive group stage game, as I predict that this contest will determine the winner of Group C. Brazil and Morocco are in a group with Scotland and Haiti, making them the two clear best teams. But will either bring some first match jitters into this opening contest? Now, if you read my full Group C breakdown, you would know we have a ticket for Morocco to win the group at +500. Which is basically what the moneyline is priced at in this match. In my mind, this further proves that this opening contest determines the winner of the group. Morocco is a team that made a Cinderella run to the semifinals in 2022 in Qatar, and return plenty of talent from that roster. Some would even argue this team is even better. Will it show in their opening match?
Brazil is one of the favorites to win this entire tournament for a reason, they have tons of talent. But they won't have a fully healthy Neymar in this match (if he even plays). However, the team is plenty stacked on the attack without him. Is there any chance the Moroccans pull off this upset?

I am sitting with Morocco to win Group C at +500, which I am reading as holding a moneyline ticket in this match. A smart man would sprinkle some on Brazil, even at the current juice, to hedge our group future. I have never claimed to be a smart man. There is clear value on Morocco +0.5 at plus money in my eyes, and it's taking a lot out of me not to double down on this African team to at least earn a draw. This would set them up for a chance to win the group with seven points over Brazil based on goal differential.
However, I think we see some fireworks from both sides, and I'll take the safer play on Morocco's team total over 0.5 goal at -135. Despite this total listed at plus money for over 2.5, I think we see goals and I endorse the over. That's the play style Brazil loves. They attack, they play fast, they press, and they dare other offenses to keep up with them. While Morocco is strong in the back, they will need to be aggressive in order to compete.
Brazil allowed two goals to Panama and one to Egypt in their pre-tournament friendlies. Against top teams in competitive matches, Brazil concedes goals. I could see this being a 1-1 or 2-2 draw, or a 2-1 win either way, but I trust Morocco to net at least one, and I'll be cheering for them to come away with three points.
Prediction: 2-2 Draw (+1800)
